Due to the high demand for river water and dam water filters we have come up with this solution... This unit uses x4 20" x 4.5" bigblue systems which are 100% standard size.
This means:
1)The filters are available everywhere being standard size
2)This unit actually works giving no reduction in flow rate whatsoever (until blocked)
3) The water has plenty of contact time with the carbon filter media removing all taste, all if not most colour, and all odour!
The unit has x1 Pleated washable sediment filter first in-line followed by x3 10 micron carbon filters that have a super dense qty of carbon to ensure the taste, colour and odour reduction...

IDEAL INSTALLATION:

1)Id pump from the surface of the dam and run through a back-flushable sand filter. The type used for pools. You would have to source that locally.

2)Send that water to a small holding tank. It always helps if you deliver the water to the holding/settling tank using a shower like spray which will drop some of the clay out of suspension.

3)Trickle feed the water from the holding tank, through the river ripper at 1 to 5 LT per minute into your rainwater storage tank connecting a float so that when the rainwater tank fills, it all shuts down.

4) After the pump to the house, install a twin big blue basic-grade followed by a whole house UV which will remove and sediment, taste, colour odour and parasites from the water and make the water safe to shower and brush teeth in.

5) If you wish to drink the water install a reverse osmosis system under your sink for drinking and cooking.

**** YOU SHOULD CONSIDER ADDING THE ULTRA VIOLET LIGHTS IF YOU WANT TO ELIMINATE ALL PARASITES LIKE GIARDIA, ECOLI, CRYPTOSPORIDIUM... ALSO, THERE MAY BE INDUSTRIAL OR BIOLOGICAL WASTE LIKE MEDICAL WASTE DUMPED IN YOUR RIVERS, SO THE ULTRA VIOLET LIGHT WILL ELIMINATE MOST OF THESE CONTAMINANTS BY KILLING ANY BUGS THAT ARE PRESENT... jUST ADD THEM FROM THE DROP DOWN MENU BELOW...
